Engine Mechanical problem

I brought my car into get inspected. My check engine light was on so it failed. The service station replaced my synchronizer & stator assembly. stating that was the problem. My check engine light is still on. He said Ford was having problems with getting the light off on this year vehicle. How do I know whether this was in fact the problem. Have you heard of this happening to this model and how do I get my engine light to go off?
