Engine Performance problem
1997 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 59960 miles

I have a 1997 Grand Marquis and it has been running hot. A mechanic showed me that it was the intake manifold( on top of engine i think its the intakex ). Its cracked. I didn't have money to get fixed so i've been running it only less then one mile while keeping water in it. It's been doing ok but i started hearing noises like little tapping when my guage raises to hot. But in the morning it doesn't do it at all. only when it gets hot. And now that I tried to take it a little further it stopped on me and it acts like it wants to crank but never does. Is it now both the manifold and the water pump or sumthing else?
