1997 Isuzu Rodeo Question Can I use a larger GM V6 as a dire

Engine Performance problem
1997 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 142000 miles

My rodeo has the typical Isuzu "tick" and I would rather not replace it with an engine known to have problems. I am considering the GM 3800, or 4.2 liter.
Just wondering if either of these will bolt up to my manual trans. and can I use the stock wirering for the ignition, and the fuel injection?
The extra power would be appriciated as well. I grew up on high powered V8s' and this 6cyl is killin' me.

Nothing stock on your Rodeo would be a "bolt up" situation for a GM motor.

Look again... the 3.2 liter stock engine IS a GM engine. So almost any 60 degree V6 should bolt right up, the question is if the ignition/sensors will work with annother simaler engine. The 3.4 is basicly a built up 3.2, so I want to know if that could be a reasonable transplant?

I stand corrected. I was working with a guy with a toyota celica who was looking at a "radical" swap. I sent your response to him and his to you. Sorry. On to your question. It should be a clean swap except for some minor alterations. Check the part #'s for the intake and pan gasket sets and see if the part #'s are the same. If so, your good to go.
