Engine Cooling problem

last year i had a new water pump put in, i was having some problems w/the car and went to a goodyear by the house the temp was going high. he told me a lot of things which i find hard to believe. So my questioin is how long does a water last. I do not drive a whole lot maybe 10,000 miles a year. PLz help

Water pumps have no life expectancy. I've replaced them and they failed on test drive. What did the Goodyear gut tell you?
