1997 Ford Thunderbird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 165000 miles

I replaced both oxygen sensors on the car before the cat.The sensor on the driver side plugged in to the wiring harness behind the engine block.At 12 inches long the new sensor reached the exhaust easily.On the passenger side the sensor plugs in to the wiring harness at the front of the engine just below the crank pulley.The new sensor on the passenger side would need to be at least 20 inches long to reach the exhaust.The longest I could find is 16 inches.I have tried the universal sensor but it still triggers codes.do you know where I can get a senser this long?I took the car to the local Ford dealer and their head mechanic says the passenger sensor should plug in at the back like the driver side does.the car is stock.
