Air Conditioning problem
1997 Ford Probe 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 97,000 miles

air conditiner stopped cooling. Was diagnosed as having a bad compressor. Compressor was changed.
system Evacuated and charged. After charging we still had no cooling inside, but the high side line from the condensor was chilled ice cold and yet the return line was warm. system required 1lb. of freon. Low side pressure was 40 psi. Compressor cycles as normal.
why would the freon be boiling off BEFORE the evaporator or Expansion valve. Act like expansion valve stuck open, yet I was told it had an Orifice tube and no expansion valve.
