Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1997 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 300000 miles

I left the store a couple weeks ago and i all of a sudden heard and felt something that wasnt normal
I immediatly turned around and parked, and looked underneath and i think i saw oil all over.
The car while in motion was making a resisting knock, it seems like every rotation or something like that
the faster the car moves, the faster the knocking, at a uniform rate

I could be in the car not moving and rev to the limit and not feel one thing wrong
but if the car moves it makes the noise and resistance.

Even if the engine is off and the cars in neutral, it still does it
and idea?

Hi there ,

if there was a pool of oil under the car, you better get the transmission inspected, you may have damaged the gear case due to an internal failure, get this done asap.

Ya i do believe it is the transmission.
But i also have some coleauges who insist that it is an internal engine problem. I just wanted some good feedback from someone who doesnt know my car.

Hi there,

If you can start and run the engine with out any adverse noise and the engine oil is OK, it will be in th transmission.
