Can you describe the smell. All the fluids of the car smell different when heated. I can put you in the right direction to look for the problem. The easiest way to find the smell is open the hood and look for an obvious leak. It is most likely leaking on the back side of the engine hitting the exhaust mainfold creating the odor. There is also the burning smell of wires check the wiring harness for obvious defomaties or exposed wires.Exhaust smell could be the need for a exhaust mainifold gasket. Bad batteries can smell like rotten eggs and can be easily exploded when in this condition so dont look for leaks or anything while smoking or having anything that can cause a spark.
Put a piece of cardboard under the car and let it sit over night. Check it in the mornig without moving it to see if there is fluid on the board. Make not eof the location and color of the fluid. Clear fluid can be brake or power steering fluid. Red fluid is transmission fluid. Drak colored or caramel color is engine oil. Depending on the color and loctaion can give you an easy location of where the leak is. Hope this helps MORT
