Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 180000 miles

I recently got a tune up and about two weeks later i got to work and when i was done working my car wouldnt start. I disconnected the battery and then connected it again and it started, but it hasn't started since. What happens is that I insert the key and turn it to the point where its almost at the ignition point. All of the dials and lights come on, but then when i turn it to the final position to start the car everything turns off and the car doesnt make any noises. I was told it was the starter by the mechanic accross the street. I would like to know if it is the starter, and if so where is it located in my 97 intrepid ES
