Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1997 Chev 4x4 Silverado, and it has been working great, but 2 days ago I left work to come home and when I tried to start the truck there was nothing when I turned the key. A friend of mine said that the battery was dead, I checked with a tester and it was fine 11.5 volts on the meter. We tried boosting it anyway, but there was no change, then he said to tap the starter while he turned the key. This worked the truck started and I drove it home. I am wondering if the starter and solenoide need to be replaced, or if it can be removed and fixed? Please provide some guidance. Thanks in advance.
