1997 Chevy S-10 gas gauge

Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 101000 miles

gas tank was replaced with new one and gauge has not worked since, is it possible that mechanic crossed wires while re-assembling? what can I do?

most likely a wire either didnt get put back its usually the ground wire i would check that first
