Brakes problem
1997 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 147800 miles
Lately I've noticed that when I am slowing down to break, I start to hear this clicking noise. I know its not supposed to make that sound. I talked to someone, and they said it could be that my rotors are warped. I have anti-lock brakes, so I wondered if that had something to do with it. I have no idea though. |

Are you feeling anything in the brake pedal or just hearing the noise?
You need to start by isolating which wheel the noise is coming from.
Drive by someone at the speed that you make it happen and have them listen to each wheel one by one. This may take 6-8 passes or more to do.
One established which wheel it is, Pull the wheel and get a look at the brakes and look for something obvious.
Something out of postion like hardware, badly deteriorated rotors etc.
Feel the rims for a difference in temperature, is the offending wheel hotter than the others?
Hopefully you wont find this:
If nothing found, check the pads for too much movement in the bracket.
I doubt the anti-locks are causing this.
When slowing from higher speeds do you feel the brake pedal pulsating? |
