Engine Performance problem

driving truck home it started running rough then it died and i couldnt get it restarted.towed it home put gas in it cause i thought it was out it did start back up i tried to move it got about 300 yards then it died again checked the outside filter it seemed fine.as i let the truck sit it would start and idle fine i thoght maybe the tank was empty and the pumped had sucked up some debris so i removed the tank the tank had over half and the filter on the pump looked clean. any ideas what might be wrong

does vehicle run and idle all day as soon as you give it gas it dies?

perform a fuel pressure test on it, i have a feeling it may be pump related.
