Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130000 miles

the other night I went to turn on my headlights and it knocked out all my lights (headlights, dome, dash,) radio, dash panel (not electrical but I don't have a spedometer, gas indicator, rpm, or odometer). I do have blinkers outside & inside on the dash and also have brake lights. Even the dinger when you have your door open doesn't work. when this happened I went to a local service station but it was after 9pm and they couldn't really help except to say they thought all my fuses were good. per the fuse panel by my dash all these things run on different fuses so it doesn't seem like a simple fuse problem. The windows & doors are crank and the radio is not factory. what could it be??? please help, I'm a single mom that can't afford to get a complete electrical solution fixed and can't afford a new car. Thank you to anybody that can give some suggestions.
Yesterday when driving all of a sudden most of my functions came back then I went home and parked it till last night and then it wouldn't start - acted like the battery was dead like something sucked all the juice out of it.
