Engine Performance problem
1997 Cadillac Deville V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
engine will idel most the time at 625 to 750 rpm without stalling. When put in drive with brake on will stall 75% of the time within 5 min some times just a near stall. No pcm codes. iac,tp,egr, emc, map.maf have all been repalce. pcv has been cleaned, throtle bode has been cleaned. 2 of 4 o2 sencers replaced, vacume holdes stedy at about 15,fuel presure holdes stedy at 40 lbs. Dos not stall well driving.Getting worse afrad to go on planed trip. Whats wrong? Also if pcm is replaced dose it have to be flashed after instalation or can it be done at a deler then instaled?

When a egr valve fails it will create an internal vacuum leak causing the engine to stall. Remove your egr valve to make sure the valve is closed and get back too me.

the egr valve has already been replaced. I did today replace the crankshaft sensors and test drove without any stalling it apears at this time that was the problem. You didn;t answer weath or not a pcm has to be in the car when it is flashed or not. Thanks ed

I have a code reader. No mil light since replacing ck sensors so haven't scaned for codes. Also it was from reading one of your repliels to others that made me try the ck sensors. thanks for the info Ed

you dont need a scanner for a caddie, it has self diagnostics, push off and warmer at the same time on your heater controls, with the key in the on position, this will allow you to read codes. look in the IP message center for the codes. this will give you all codes for the engine, suspension, and body codes

I know about the caddy self reader. Not nessary to read codes at this time. As I stated the car is running fine no mil light. We have driven the first 1000 miles of a 8500 mile trip.
