Electrical problem
1997 Buick Park Avenue 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 35000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I store my car every winter and I disconnect the battery. This spring when I reconnected the battery and started the car the fuel guage needle apparently went all the way around and caught under the pin. It can't move. How can I fix it? Do I need to replace the cluster.

another way of doing it with out taking it apart is taking it to your local dealer and have them peform a sweep test on the cluster if the tech 2 will communicate with the cluster.

You can remove the cluster and take the dust cover off then move the needle back with your finger and put it back togather. You have to disconnect the ground on the battery. the key has to be on to move the gear shift to low so you can get the cluster out. Remember when you put it all back together if the Ignition is not in the off position when you connect the ground wire the voltage will spike and you will have do it all over again. It takes about 30 min. after you have practiced a couple of times.
