1997 Audi A4 A4 Engine Light Blinking

1997 Audi A4 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 96,000 miles ---------------------------------------------------------------- My check engine light started blinking, and I notice a burning odor under the hood and the car has some trouble climbing hills. My mechanic said that it was misfiring, so he changed an ignition coil, and that solved the problem for a couple of days. Now the light is back on, though, and the problems have returned. Do you have any idea what the problems might be?
