Transmission problem
1996 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 242000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I've been looking at my outer tie rods and I've noticed that the one on the drivers side is flush up against whatever it connects to at the wheel and the one on my passenger side is at an angle against it that leaves about a quarter inch gap on one side of the bushing. I just had it replaced because it was ripped off in a mishap during an alignment and the new one is on at the same angle. Nobody has said anything about it and any mechanics I've remembered to ask about it all say it's fine, you'd think the mechanic would have said something when he was puting the new one on if something was wrong, but he didn't, and I forgot to ask him. Sorry to bother you, but I'd appreciate you opinion, I find it hard to believe that it's supposed to be that way, but maybe it is. Thanx

Hi there,

This is a bit hard to visualize but it dose not sound good. I would get an opinion from another mechanic as if it is faulty this is quite dangerous.
