Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles
Hey Guys
96 sunfire GT/2.4L. Car has been good and strong. Start it up this morning and it started as usual and idled nicely for about 5 mins...(its cold in canada:()and then it stalled. I tried to start it up again and I heard the enigine turn just a little and then nothing. Justed replaced the starter 3 months ago, and i dont thing thats the case because it stalled after running. Seems to me like the starter is trying to rotate the engine but it cant anymore......any advice??? thanks
When you turn key to start position-do you hear the starter buzzing and engine not turning over-if so the starter overrunning clutch is slipping-now if its just a click -could be a weak battery, bad connections, ignition switch, park and neutral switch, and starter itself again-
ya it sounds like the starter is buzzing........but whatevr it is, it made the engine die. The engine ran fine for like 5-10 mins, and then died. Is the starter overrunning clutch apart of the starter??
ok, but would that make my car stall after it started up fine and idled nicely for 5-10 mins?. I have a warranty on that starter anyways. Thanks for the quick replies
