Transmission problem

I am about to get a transmission flush done to my car and i've heard rumors and i've gotten real life accounts from people saying that when they got there transmission flushed the next day either A) It was slipping or B) Their transmission went out completely...dead nada nothing. Is this true and what precautions should i take before getting it done at the dealership service center?
