Drive Train Axles Bearings problem

so i have a AWD subaru that is a 96 and the rear went out on us so we got a new one and my dad didnt no that it was a 96 so he got a 98 rear and instaled it and now it drives horrible i put a fuse in it to make it only FWD it works btu only for a little while how do you change the old rear and install a new one i got a new rear for the car as well.
