1996 Other Mitsubishi Models squeal or screech sound before

I have had the transmission rebuilt twice and a trans cooler installed (because the shop said the trans was overheating) But I still get a screeching noise from under the hood under hard acceleration. It happens with each gear change and whether or not the car is in power or economy mode. It seems to be louder and happens more frequently if the A/C is on. This is a sound that I was hearing prior to the transmission failing the first time.
Is this sound coming from the transmission, or could it be something else like a belt tensioner, or something with the A/C . The trans also will occassionally not want to downshift into passing gear. There are no engine lights that come on.

Hi mdominick,

I would think it is the AC compressor beltings that need some adjustment. Check other beltings also.
