1996 Other GMC Models sparks when i start

Electrical problem
1996 Other GMC Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles

the vehicle has a hard time starting. sometimes it makes no sound when i turn the key like it shorted out. i wait five minutes then it starts. i can see sparks coming from underneath on the passenger side of the engine underneath. i cant see what it goes to. can you tell me what it is?
