1996 Nissan Maxima
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a '96 Nissan Maxima. I very recently had my front brakes replaced, tires rotated (one was worn badly inside - replaced with used), balanced. After about 1 week I was driving approx 60mps when I heard a noise that sounded like muffler dropped and was dragging on ground. It wasn't. Noise was coming from left front tire. Very loud - sounded like something was loose and clunking around in wheel. I had it towed back to mechanic. He heard nothing, found nothing. Was able to drive with no problems. Noise did not return until I was coming down a hill and had to brake and make a left hand turn. Was not as loud. Drove about 5 blocks to home and parked it. Drove it later again with no issue until coming down a hill that curved to left and was slowing for a stop, it began again (the quieter version). Parked it about 3 blocks at home. Was gone when I drove it again. Had friend take off wheel, brakes could find nothing. Car and steering wheel also shake between 50 & 65mph. It did before brakes/tires replaced.
i suggest that you return the car to a mechanic and have a full inspection of the drive line done, including wheel bearings front and rear, noises can sound like there coming from one point , but can be somewhere else, if the noise is as loud as you say, something is very wrong and it should be located and repaired as soon a possible.'
