I received a recall notice last fall for my 1996 Lincoln town Car, with 38,00 miles on it, its like new. I took the car In to have the cruise disconnected due to the possible fire hazard, at the time the cruise worked fine. Today I made an appointment to have it reconnected because the part is available now. So I went in, got it fixed and now the cruise will not work at all. I took it back to the dealer and they are saying that this is happening a lot and that Ford is telling them it’s the customers responsibility. So yes, you can get the part but it may not work if you do and you have to fix it yourself. This is a total scam, if there is a further problem after reconnecting the cruise that worked fine before it was disconnected then ford should be responsible for its further defective part.
