Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 207000 miles

My Grand Cherokee Laredo will start but won't idle. You have to keep your foot on the pedal to keep it running.

This just started yesterday when I had to jump start. It sat up for a couple of weeks and I figured the battery must have gone bad.

Anyway, why does it not idle and what can I do about it?

Check the idle air control motor and the throttle position sensor also might need a computer relearn.
