Electrical problem
1996 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 225000 miles

Have p401 engine code. Replaced egr valve didnot clear code. Lots for vacuum to egr solenoid but none out. Will to harm the engine if I by-pass the vacuum solenoid?

Thanks

Hi scrubo,

If you bypass the solenoid, you would not be able to dirvie the car, it would keep stalling and misfires.

The vacumn would not work unless engine rpm is about range of 1800 to 2000.

Did you check if the EGR valve passage under it is clogged?

Replacing an item would not clear the code until you have restarted it about 40 times with no error coming on or you have erased the code.
