Engine Performance problem

I thought my fuel filter was causing engine to run ruff. it started intermittently. then ran ruff all the time. check plug wires.?replaced fuel filter.?.then the fire it just started to melt things an i got it put out . what are the vaccum line located by the dip stick there are melted . captaintr@excite.com
