Engine Performance problem

Hi.. Lately my '96 for probe GT has been making more noise while running. I had replaced the muffler and exaust 4-5 moinths ago.. so I figured it was something else. And, today.. While driving home, it made this grinding-crunching sound and completely stalled while in motion. I slowly came to a stop after trying to hit the gas. It has also been longer than 3 months since my last oil change. Do you think my engine seized up? Or it is something else unrelated? If so.. Would you be able to tell me the extent of the damage?
