1996 Ford Probe 4 cyl Automatic 85,000 miles

My o/d light blinks sometimes and sometimes the car jerks if i drive it for a long time, like all day but it dosent happen all the time. it drives pretty good most of the time and the check engine light stays on. i was told that my transmission oil looks old.

have the cars computer read for fault codes ... most good autoparts stores do this for free .. get the fault codes they will tell you/us where the fault lies and re-post for further info ?
