Engine Performance problem

I have a problem with car starting at irregular times. It will start normally for several days and then all of a sudden not start. The battery has been checked for dead cells and is alright. The starter when it engages turns over very well. When it not wanting to engage, it just seems to click for a few seconds and then it just quits until the key is turned back and then it repeats
