Transmission problem
1996 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 168000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, I have a Chrysler LHS, and I have been getting mided diagnosis from mechanics. The problem is that the car only shifts into first, and second gear. Then sometimes when going to fast like over thirty the car wil I guess drop out of gear. Then it slams back into gear and you can drive again. The problem is also that I need to replace the converters too. Would the converters cause the transmission to go into safe mode, and not shift up due to being fully clogged?
First things first, if you have clogged converters, and are pressing further down on the gas pedal, the input to the PCM from the throttle is too high, this will cause shifting symtoms...do the cats first, and fix the condition that caused the clog, or the new ones will clog!
