1996 Chrysler LHS tranny stops changing at 2nd gear

Transmission problem
1996 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 124800 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
car is new to me second owner, put new battery in ran and drove well for around 400 miles. The tranny acts like it is stuck in 2nd now. Fluid was recently changed along with filter. open to ideas
