In need of serious help... I hope you can help me. My 95 Suburban had dead battery from lights left on. A friend tried to jump with his 1996 GMC truck. Batt cables were hooked to Sub 1st (dead one) then hooked to the truck (running). Before last cable was hooked to battery on truck, his truck made a click & turned off. Cables were connected correctly rd-rd blk-gnd. After that, truck cranked over but never started. All fuses in box good. His "mechanic friends" said fuel pump was fried, he rplcd & still no start. Then said wires were melted to fuel p. & rplcd. Same prob. Now he is replacing parts as process of elimination. Also same guy used ladys 2004 Expedition to jump the Sub and it worked, then I was told 2 days later the brain in the Exp fried and had to be rplcd - $2800. Does this make sense to you? She was told batt cables were bkwrds. He wants me to pay for all parts whether if fixes his truck or not due to them being elec. parts and not returnable, and Expedition lady wants down pymnt on new car she bought because of brain cost. Please help me! What happened to these cars? I appreciate any help. Thank you

The exp lady is crazy, if her computer fried a few days later it was not because of you, tell her to take a hike and prove that one in court.

As for your other problem, this truck may have a separate under the hood on the pass side fire wall under a large plastic cover which drives the fuel pump, and did they check the fuel pump relay? Now is the problem fire or fuel, did you spray some carb cleaner down the TBI and see if it starts if not then its not fuel its electrical, then you have to look at something else, that one could be possibly the computer. too many questions need to be answered in order to figure out.

The ladys computer fried because of a voltage surge from the suburbans alternator when the suburbans engine was started, or the cables were indeed hooked up backwards--but who hooked them up? Your friend? With friends blaming you for their own mistakes then who needs enemies?
The fuel pumps' wires fried because of loose chassy fuel pump wireing harness connector pins. This is a very common problem with these fuel pumps -- and -- jumping the battery did NOT cause this problem -- any chevy dealer can tell you this. When you change these fuel pumps you must replace the pumps wire harness chassy connector. Sounds like your friend is trying to pull a fast one on you with the fuel pump problem -- but the explorer problem probably is true but who hooked the wires up? and did anyone check the difference between the chevys' and fords' alterantor output? If not -- good luck with that.
