Brakes problem
1996 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

First, I'd like to thank "pear69" for all the great advice to previous problems. I got the Tahoe running! Here's the question: When stepping on the brake pedal, there is a psssshhh sound (like there is a hole in something being pushed out). It doesn't do it when there is no power (vehicle is off).
When looking at my Haynes repair manual, the closest thing I feel it might be is the power brake booster unit?? It also says that a repair of this kind should not be done by a regular person...I need your wisdom...
