Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 75000 miles

Our Service Engine Light Soon Light came on and stayed on for a couple of days. Then it went out. We took it to a repair place and they tried to clean the egr valve. They said it was the egr valve. It came back on afterwards. What code is found when they use their machine that would indicate it is the egr valve? The car runs great.

It would take forever to find the EGR code. Usually it's done the other way. It's scanned, you get a code, you look it up and find the problem.
