1998 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles
Ok, I have a question. My '98 Blazer is actin up on me. It is making a rattlin sound and squels abit, normally I would think it was the alternator or something else on the belt system, but the oil pressure drops so low that the check engine light comes on. And it has no leaks and is operating at normal oil level. Any ideas? Oh yeah I had to have the intake manifold changed three to six months ago, along with the water pump and it also got a new serpentine belt. I am stumped on as to what it could be.
Hi:
As far as the noise, the belt tensionier may be loosing tension. As a resull, the belt will squeal. As far as the oil pressure, have it checked with a gauge. If it's correct, you may need a new oil pump. However, if the pressure is good, the sending unit may need replaced.
