My 96 4.3 blew a rod or w/e and we replaced and installed a 97 4.3.. somewhere in the installation process we must have missed hooking up the air controls part? No matter what setting i put my controller on (MAX AC, Defrost, Floor, etc., cold, warm or hot) what actually comes out is Vented Defrost. What do I need to do to make my controls work again?? We suffered without AC over the summer but we NEED heat this winter or the vehicle will be undrivable. I live in northern michigan and vented defrost is not going to thaw my windows! If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it.
Sounds like the vacuum line that goes into the interior is disconnected. Look along the firewall in the engine compartment on the passenger side. There will be a plastic vacuum line that gets connected to a fitting on the engine. The fitting is usually near the distributer area on the engine. It has a T on it that may have been removed and connected directly.
Awesome thanks, we just got back from a trip to town so it's too hot to be sticking my bare hands around back there to find a hose but when it cools down i'll check it out and let you know how it went.
Sorry about the huge delay, I followed the hose from the passenger side over until i found that the vacuum hose was unplugged on the drivers side and plugged it into a hose on the hood.. now it works thanks
