1997 540i BMW, V8. It takes a while for cold air to kick in even if temperature is set at 65 F. Blower is fine though. Freon is not the problem. What else should I look for? I'm afraid to drive it around and suddenly stops in 120 F since we live in the desert. Please advise...
you say "freon is not the problem". I'm confused as to what you mean? have you checked high and low side pressures? and what are the ambient humidity and temperatures.these facts are critical to a proper diagnostic.typically in the E39 vehicle when the problems you describe exist,I usually find the refrigerant charge is too low.It does not take much loss to cause this problem because the system does not have any excess capacity.
