Noises problem

i drive an alfa romeo 147 tourismo 1.6l engine and have recently been hearing a whistling noise coming from the front of the car when travelling at speed on the motorway. The noise stops if i put my foot on the brake or turn the engine of and back on again but starts making the noise again after a short while.
there is no problem though when just travelling around town at low speed problem only occurs when the car goes over 50 miles an hour.
i hope somebody has an idea as it has been driving me crazy for a couple of weeks now
