Transmission problem
2002 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 80000 miles

When driving at a steady highway speed the car while have a "RPM surge" from say 2000 to 4000+. It will bounce back and forth for maybe 15-20 seconds. The car does not respond by going faster. It's exactly as if I shifted into neutral while keep my foot steady on the gas.

Happens randomly. Could happen 10 times in a 20 mile drive or never after 500 miles. No rhyme or reason that I see.
