Electrical problem

When I use my turn signal sometimes both rear signal lights flash. This seems to happen when I am braking and turn on the signal. The right brake light goes out and both signals flash - rear only the front is okay.

Once it begins it happens every time the signals are used no matter which direction. If the ignition is turned off for a period of time it seems to correct the problem for a short period of time.

Any suggestions?
