Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
2002 BMW X5 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 75000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Do I have to use BMW parts to replace my CV joints or half shafts as my mechanic is calling them and bmw parts to replace my brake pads and rotors. I feel like I am getting hosed.
Why do you feel like you are getting hosed? Is the price an issue? There are after market suppliers that you can save $ with, although the profit margin is different for your "technician"
I have an BMW X5 2002, I am getting both CV Joints replace, back brakes with pads and rotors and my total cost is $1975.02. The technician informed me that the 2 CV joints were 499 each, because he could not find anything but BMW parts. I feel like the price is a little steep and I could get regular parts. 1. Does this price seem high to you
2. Will it make that big of a difference if I can get non BMW parts?
Thanks! Glad the Cat is eating!
Trina
Thanks Trina, my cat is quite fat, but we love her. The aftermarket has most everything needed for your X5. Sites include European auto source, BMWpartsonly.com, Realoem.com, check these out and it might give you an idea of what the parts cost online. $1,975 seems a bit high to me. $250 is what the halfshafts cost online at BMWpartsonly. The model for your X5 is E53 in case you did not know.
