2001 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 50000 miles

So I am having this problem that is completely stumpping me. I can be driving along just fine, engine temp under midmarker, get to a stop light that is red, sit there and the car just dies..... make a gurggling noise like its out of gas, but it has done this to me after i just filled the tank. it does it about once a week, and i have a two year old who freaks out when it happens. here is the best part. open the hood sit there for like ten minutes then turn the car back on, it was like nothing ever happened! no check engine light or anything......how bizzare?! suggestions?

sounds like a possible fuel pump shuting down. did you have it looked at yet?
