Engine Cooling problem
2000 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 145000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Mt car just started blowing white exhaust smoke when i start it. It goes away after a couple of minutes. It has thet sweet maple smell so i think it is coolant.
The check engine light has been on for the last 30,000 mile but it is only in the last 3 weeks I have noticed the smoke. I have always checked the coolant every two weeks. It is only in the last few weeks that I have noticed it down about a gallon.
The oil looks good.
The passanger side vents blew cold air last winter if that has anyting to do with it.

i wouldnt be so sure about the headgasket because it would keep going even when warm.
with the intake gasket it will keep leaking coolant into the cylinders when vehicle is off and when it is started it will keep burning it untill no more is present then the smoke stops. |
white smoke could also be oil smoke, have you cooling sys pressure tested for leaks, if its not overheating its not your headgaskets, no coolant runs through the intake, and do a oil level test, fill it and recheck it in a week if its low its oil

check with cooling system as buzzsaw states. |
Black they always overheat first with full coolant

The garage just told me the #3 cylinger has had 4800 missfires and the plug is whit all the rest are tan. The car now over haets after 10 miles. How do i find out if this is a intake or a head gasket?
