Steering problem
1999 BMW 740 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 70k miles

I recently had my alternator (fix on battery problem) replaced and they mechanic told me there was leaks in the pwr steering lines. Would this cause a "heavy wheel" problem that I'm having? The turning is difficult at times..as though there is no power steering......
I"'m sure that this steering is not normal...as I didn't have this difficult a time w/ my previous 740

Yes, low power steering fluid level can cause issues with the steering. Did the previous mechanic give you a quote for repairs after he told you about the leaks? How long has it been since the last service?
