Noises problem
1999 BMW 328 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles

Hello. I have A 1999 BMW 328I 4dr Automatic 175k. I just bought the vehicle and after driving it there is a whine or loud whirling everytime the car is moving. But if you sit in park and rev the engine you do not hear the noise. It is only while the car is in motion and the accelerator is pushed. It is bad around 20-50 mph. The noise is not in the engine bay it seems to be coming from the rear of the car. Do you have any answers. Thanks

It could be the wheel bearing(s) Have an assistant drive the car whilst you listen for the noise and for which side it is coming from, jack up that side and turn the wheel by hand. A rumbling or roughness could mean the bearing is failing and if so you may wish to consider seeking a BMW pro to repair it as it is fairly involved and requires special tools.
