Engine Cooling problem
1997 Cadillac Deville V12 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 106000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have already replaced the thermoststat and added a sealer to the cooling system. I also checked the readiator and the temp seems normal. Now the temp goes to 250 degrees. The computer does not register any error messages (usually asks to shut engine at this point) and the fans are running at normal speeds not accelerated as you would expect...

if the water pump and belt are ok, and no leaks, then you have a headgasket problem. the headbolt threads are pulling out of the block

Buzzsaw.....you are right on...the mechanic I took it to ran some sort of test on the heads and confirmed a blown head gasket...Unfortunately the cost of repair is more then the value of the car...but thanks for the insight..

well sorry to here that but its really fixable, I would say 4000.00 at the dealer and thats where I would take it for the repairs and have them repair all the headbolts. I sure you dont think its worth it but your caddy gets 24-28 mpg and thats good, and buying something else that you know nothing about and having to fix it as well. but you do what you think is right for you
