i have a 530i and i am trying to hook up my code reader to see what codes i pull up. i just got the car, and i can't find the plugin. if my car does not have a plugin for a code reader what do i use and where do i plug it in at????

The 20 pin diagnostic plug is under the hood and will probably not interface with your code reader. Most generic code readers are designed for the OBDII format. If you need to analyze the codes present in your car, Peake Research Tools has a website, check it out.
