Transmission problem
1993 Audi Quattro V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 176000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I managed to have the throttle stick and in the process of getting the car to stop I believe I put it in reverse (automatic transmission) at about 60 mph. Wheels locked up and it was a wild ride but I managed to get it back into neutral with the engine off and stopped. Now when I put it into reverse it will move but very slowly and the engines revs without speeding up the reverse speed. In forward gears its seems okay except it seems to downshift too soon when I apply gas especially in 4th or 5th. This is a 1993 Audi V8 Quattro with either a 5 or 6 speed automatic transmission. Is there a reverse band adjustment that I can access without removing the transmission? Any suggestions on what I should do. The car was running great but is not worth more than a cople of thousand so a transmission replacement or rebuilt is probably out of the question. A used transmission would be okay. Ideas on where I can get one?
